Get in TouchAcetal , also called polyacetal and polyoxymethylene (POM), is a general purpose, semi-crystalline, engineered thermoplastic. Acetal is commonly used for parts that need to be very stiff, have low surface friction and good dimensional stability. Dimensional stability is the ability of a plastic part to maintain its original dimensions when it is exposed to changes in temperature and humidity.
Nylon material is widely used in the industry. Nylon has a high crystallinity paired with high compression strength and impact resistance. These materials have delivered successful performance throughout the years. Nylon is available in natural and various colors, as well as many different grades and lubricant packages.
"Polypro" is one of the most commonly used thermoplastics made today. You can find it all over the place, in kitchen utensils, car batteries, clothes, laboratory casework, and fluid handling tanks. Polypropylene’s characteristics make it ideal for tough, robust products ranging from protective car bumpers to life-saving medical tools to cold-weather gear for our soldiers.
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is used in a wide variety of applications in the building and construction, health care, electronics, medical, automobile and other sectors - in products ranging from piping and duct, semiconductor cabinetry, chemical cabinets, and machine components.
Polycarbonate (Lexan) is significantly stronger than glass and acrylic (Plexiglass). Polycarbonate is a lightweight and economical material that provides increased protection for use in many applications - from windshields to machine guards. Polycarbonate plastic is more dimensionally stable than acrylic over a wide temperature range. When compared to acrylic, it is only slightly less transparent, however polycarbonate plastic sheets are more prone to scratching.
Acrylic (Plexiglass) is a common and useful clear material that resembles glass, but offers better transparency and weighs 50% less than glass of the same thickness. Acrylic is known to be one of the clearest materials, offering a transparency rate of 93% and can be used in a wide variety of applications.
UHMW stands for Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) Polyethylene that has extremely high abrasion and impact resistance properties. It will outwear most other materials, including metals, nylons, urethanes and fluoroplastics. In corrosion resistance, it has the same qualities of other polyethylene. UHMW resists wear, friction and corrosion and as such it cuts maintenance costs, energy consumption and extends product life.
HDPE (high density polyethylene) is a rigid, tough plastic that offers good chemical resistance and low moisture absorption.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) was originally developed for use in aerospace applications but soon after it had countless industrial applications. PTFE‘s unique properties include: chemical inertness , low coefficient of friction, and high heat resistance.
PEEK (PolyEtherEtherKetone) has excellent high temperature performance, superb wear properties, superior chemical resistance and outstanding toughness and strength. It also has excellent deformation under load characteristics, a high flexural modulus, and exhibits low smoke and toxic gas emissions when exposed to a flame.
PVDF is a fluoropolymer that is used generally in applications requiring the highest purity, strength, and resistance to solvents, acids, bases and heat. PVDF is commonly used in the chemical, semiconductor, medical, and defense industries, as well as in lithium-ion batteries. Applications in chemical processing typically rely on PVDF to withstand heat and pressure, aggressive chemicals, mechanical stress, and abrasive particles.
PET-P is an unreinforced, semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyester characterized as having the best dimensional stability coupled with excellent wear resistance, a low coefficient of friction, high strength, and resistance to moderately acidic solutions. PET-P is capable of sustaining high loads and high wear conditions. PET-P offers good chemical and abrasion resistance. Additionally, its low moisture absorption means mechanical and electrical properties are unaffected by moisture.
